| Rick Smith outdid himself in setting a new record at the Tri-State Hot Stove League's Night of Memories Saturday at the Vanderburgh 4H Center. Smith bought two tickets to next year's Super Bowl XLII for $8150.00 at the annual youth sports fundraiser. "$8000.00 was our limit," said Smith, a manager at Toyota. "But I thought we might as well go a little higher." Smith's bid was the highest for an auction item in the eight year history of the event. The previous high, set last year, was $7200.00 for two tickets to this years Super Bowl. | The event raised approximately $103,000, or about
$85,000 after expenses. Other high ticket items:
* $3000 for a Scott Rolen jersey autographed by the entire 2006 World Champion St. Luois Cardinal team. * $1750 for a limited edition print signed by Cardinal standout Albert Pujols. * $1700.00 for a signed Peyton Manning Colts jersey. *$1400 for a bat signed by 23 Hall of Famers *$1300 for a bat signed by all the celebrity guests at the event |
